Prayer

Prayer doesn't always have to take place in Church, you can pray wherever you are at any time. Talk to God throughout the day. He knows us better than anyone, He called each of us by name; have conversations with Him in the way we would talk to our closest friend. You could pray whilst you are travelling, this could be a regular time for you to be with God.

It is important to ask for God's guidance in your life. Don't just wait until things are going wrong and then turn to Him for help (although He is always there to help you). Give thanks for all your blessings, take time to look around you, your family, your work, your church - there is much to give thanks for. Pray for others, those who are sick, your neighbours, your family, wider issues you have seen on the news.

Prayer shouldn't be seen as a duty, it should be something we are passionate about, whether we are excited to thank God for His abundant love or urgently needing His help through a difficult situation - there are no limits in prayer.

Why not listen to what God has to say to you. There is a letter that has been created from Scriptures that shows us how much God loves us. Why not take some time now and listen to "The Father's Love Letter".

Alternatively, find a quiet, comfortable place where you can really spend quality time with God, not just talking to Him, try and spend some time in quiet reflection, listening and waiting for the Lord. Read your Bible, you may find your answers in there.

Daily Prayers for the Armour of God

Ephesians 6 vs 10 - 20

In Ephesians 6, Paul explains how each of us are involved in a spiritual battle between the forces of good (God) and evil (the devil) and the spiritual powers who are fighting over our souls.

It may be helpful, therefore, to put on God’s armour of protection on a daily basis. (It can also be used before going to bed, because we can also be vulnerable at night). As you read through these, you might find it helpful to touch those parts of your body to which they refer.

Heavenly Father, I take to myself this morning/evening:
The HELMET of Salvation;
The BREASTPLATE of Righteousness;
The BELT of truth;
The SHOES of the Gospel of Peace;
The SHIELD of Faith;
The SWORD of the Spirit.

The following prayer might be helpful when you feel oppressed, burdened and heavy in your spirit and when you are facing difficult times.

In the name of Jesus Christ I disclaim, renounce,
and totally reject all the depression,
heaviness and gloom, which now burdens me.
I am a child of light, not of darkness.
I will walk in the light as He is in the light,
while the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses me from all sin.
May I live today in the Communion of Saints.
I take as my companions the Angels, Archangels, and all the Company of Heaven. May they surround me on every side
to be my keepers and guardians.
And I claim the promised indwelling of the Holy Spirit,
the Father's gift to all who ask Him.
May I be His temple today that I may live to the praise of God the Father and after the pattern of Jesus Christ my Lord.
Amen.

Whenever we ‘cast off’ something, it is important to fill any gap that is left. This prayer might be helpful as you do that.

May the Strength of God Empower me;
The Wisdom of God Direct me;
The Spirit of God Inspire me;
The Love of God Enfold me;
The Grace of God Comfort me;
The Joy of God Fill me.
And may the Blessing of God Almighty,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be upon me,
this day/evening and always.
Amen.
